Rohini Acharya, daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad, has denied speculation that she is seeking a role in politics, calling the reports “baseless rumours”. In a post on X, Acharya said she had no interest in a Rajya Sabha seat, an assembly ticket or supporting any other aspirant. She added, “I have no rivalry with any member of my family, nor am I interested in getting a post in any future government. For me, my self-respect, my dedication towards my parents and the honour of my family are supreme. Baseless rumours are being spread against me by trolls, paid media and those having the evil intention to capture the party”. Her comments followed a series of cryptic messages that had fuelled speculation about friction within the family, particularly over the influence of her younger brother and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav. There were also reports that she had unfollowed her father and Tejashwi on social media, though both still follow her. Also Read: Sibling Showdown In RJD Again? Cryptic Posts by Lalu Yadav’s Daughter Trigger Speculation Ahead of Bihar Polls The 47-year-old, a medical graduate who lives in Singapore, contested last year’s Lok Sabha elections from Saran but has repeatedly insisted she does not seek a political role. Last week, she posted that she would continue fulfilling her duties as a daughter and sister without chasing positions. She also recalled donating a kidney for her father’s surgery, sharing a video of herself being wheeled into the operating room. “For those who are ready to sacrifice, fearlessness and self-respect run in the blood,” she wrote. Tej Pratap Yadav, another sibling who has often been at odds with the party, backed her statement. “Rohini is much elder to me. The sacrifice she made is beyond what most daughters, sisters or mothers could do. The pain she has expressed is justified,” he said. Bihar Assembly election is scheduled later this year.
