KSRTC launches special Dasara temple tours in coastal Karnataka

Mangaluru: In connection with Dasara and Navaratri celebrations, the KSRTC Mangaluru Division has introduced special package tours, giving devotees and tourists the chance to visit prominent coastal temples while promoting the region’s tourism. The tours, scheduled from September 22 to October 2, will cover a range of spiritual circuits including Mangaluru, Madikeri, Kollur, Sigandur, and Udupi.

Senior divisional controller of KSRTC Mangaluru division, Rajesh Shetty, said the initiative was aimed at offering pilgrims divine darshan during Navaratri while providing affordable and convenient travel options. Advance booking is available online as well as at KSRTC bus stations.

Mangaluru Dasara Navadurga darshan package

The highlight is the Navadurga Darshan package, offering temple visits within and around Mangaluru. The route includes Maroli Suryanarayana Temple, Bolar Hale Kote Temple, Shree Mangaladevi Temple, Polali Rajarajeshwari Temple, Hosanadu Kodyadka Annapoorneshwari Temple (lunch halt), Shree Kateel Durgaparameshwari Temple, Bappanadu Temple at Mulki, Sasihithlu Bhagavathi Temple, Chitrapura Durgaparameshwari Temple, Urwa Marigudi Temple, and Kudroli Gokarnanatheshwara Temple before returning to Mangaluru Bus Stand.

Timing: 8:00 am – 8:30 pm

Mangaluru–Madikeri package tour

This one-day trip covers popular tourist and pilgrimage spots in Madikeri, including Raja Seat, Abbey Falls, Nisargadhama, and the Golden Temple.

Timing: 7:00 am – 9:30 pm

Mangaluru–Kollur package tour

The Kollur route includes Uchila Mahalaxmi Temple, Kapu Marigudi Temple, Kamalashile Brahmi Durgaparameshwari Temple (lunch halt), Kollur Mookambika Temple, and Maranakatte Brahmalingeshwara Temple.

Timing: 8:00 am – 8:00 pm

Mangaluru–Sigandur package tour

This tour offers darshan at Sigandur Chowdeshwari Temple and Kollur Mookambika Temple, with a brief halt at Kundapur.

Timing: 7:00 am – 7:30 pm

Dasara Durga darshan package from Udupi

A special package beginning from Udupi City Bus Stand at 7:30 am covers eight temples: Neelavara Mahishamardini Temple (Brahmavar), Mandarthi Durgaparameshwari Temple, Kamalashile Brahmi Durga Temple, Kollur Durgaparameshwari and Mookambika Temples, Maranakatte Brahmalingeshwara Temple, and Neralakatte Soukuru Durgaparameshwari Temple. The tour returns to Udupi by 7:30 pm.

Fare: Adults Rs 500; Children (6–12 years) Rs 400

Udupi temple tours

KSRTC Udupi has also announced two additional packages – Shringeri Darshan and Dasara Durga Darshan. The Shringeri circuit includes Kodyadka Annapoorneshwari Temple, Shringeri Sharadamba Temple (via SK Border), Kigga Rishyasringa Temple, Haripura Matha, and Perdoor Anantapadmanabha Temple.

Affordable and accessible travel

Rajesh Shetty added that these temple packages are aimed at both local devotees and those visiting from distant places. “We expect large participation this year, and our focus is on ensuring affordability, convenience, and spiritual fulfilment for pilgrims,” he said.

With expanded routes including Kodyadka and Hosabag Sigandur temples, KSRTC’s Dasara specials are expected to draw strong interest during the Navaratri season, offering a blend of devotion and tourism across coastal Karnataka.
