Like many of you, I was also sitting there watching the University of Tulsa have better coaches, players and plays than Oklahoma State University for four quarters.
After the win, Golden Hurricane coach Tre Lamb said on national television: “Tulsa football is back. We’re not going to be on the third page of the paper anymore.”
Later in the locker room after the game, he said: “I’m tired of being on the second page of the paper.”

First, I want to thank the coach for recognizing that Tulsa does still in fact have a paper, and I would say a pretty damn good one. Michael Peters does a great job of covering TU sports. Find all of his coverage on our site dedicated to the Golden Hurricane: TUSportsExtra.com.
Second, I think that Lamb doesn’t let facts get in the way of a good story. The coach is playing a game of hyperbole, which I appreciate as he tries to resurrect a program that doesn’t seem to have enough football fans among its alumni. Might I suggest that Lamb’s helping create something everyone in Tulsa should cheer on.
Please note that the TU football team was on the front page of the sports section on game day like most game days. On Saturday, after the win, the team was featured on the front page of the whole paper.
I think the coach is actually talking about being third in the state behind the University of Oklahoma and OSU when it comes to football programs.
If he keeps winning games like that, I assure you the coach will like where he sees his team in the pages of the Tulsa World.
