Pupils at a West Lothian primary school were delighted to pick a prestigious award. Kids at Southdale Primary School in Armadale celebrated being awarded the Gold School Sports Award. Children were able to try a whole host of sports including basketball, gymnastics, boccia and taekwondo. Head teacher Vicky Fish said: “This award is recognition of our school’s achievements in putting sport at the heart of our planning, practice and ethos. “The Gold Award also highlights that our school has shown excellent practice and demonstrates an on-going commitment to increasing young people’s opportunities and engagement in physical education, school sport and leadership and provides clear pathways to life-long participation in sport. “A huge well done to our full staff team and all the Sports Leaders past and present. A special thank you to Mrs Hughes and Miss Parker for supporting sports across the school over the last few years.” Primary seven Southdale pupil Connor added: “Everyone is so proud that we have got this award because we have worked really hard for the last few years to make sure everyone can be involved in sports at our school and to plan fun things like sports days, tournaments and challenges. “We have so many great sports clubs at Southdale like a football team, basketball team, netball, dance club, gymnastics, boccia, taekwondo and loads more. I think this Award is a really good achievement for Southdale!” Don’t miss the latest news from the West Lothian Courier. Sign up to our free newsletter here .
