ETInfraSwan Defence and Heavy Industries Ltd (SDHI) is India’s largest shipbuilding and heavy fabrication company by capacity.
Swan Defence and Heavy Industries (SDHI) signed a Rs 4,250 crore agreement with the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) to modernise shipyards, and boost supply chains. SDHI also announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited (SMFCL) to jointly explore projects including new builds, ship repairs and ancillary maritime infrastructure for support under Maritime focused Equity Fund (MfEF).A company statement said SDHI and SMFCL will conduct feasibility studies covering project design, yard capacity, vessel types, and technology integration. “Partners will develop a financing plan covering capital structure, equity, debt, and credit enhancements, while identifying co-financiers such as multilateral institutions, government agencies, and private investors,” SDHI said.These agreements were signed ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Saturday visit to Gujarat where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple maritime development projects worth over Rs 7,870 crore.From Bhavnagar on Saturday, PM Modi inaugurated the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal at Indira Dock. He also laid the foundation stone of a new container terminal and associated facilities at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata. Modi also flagged off the new container berth, cargo handling facilities, and associated developments at Paradip Port, and the Tuna Tekra Multi-Cargo Terminal.The Prime Minister also inaugurated coastal protection works including sea-walls and revetments at Chennai Port, sea-wall construction at Car Nicobar Island, a multi-purpose cargo berth and Green Bio-Methanol Plant at Deendayal Port, Kandla, and ship repair facilities at Patna and Varanasi.Add as a Reliable and Trusted News Source Add Now!
