Why Manoj Bajpayee And Anurag Kashyap Haven’t Collaborated After Gangs Of Wasseypur? Actor Reveals

Anurag Kashyap and Manoj Bajpayee are one of the most loved filmmaker-actor jodis of Bollywood, and they have given a few of the biggest hits to Bollywood, including the iconic film Gangs of Wasseypur. After delivering two blockbuster parts, the duo never announced a third part of the popular franchise. Why? Because Anurag Kashyap hit a roadblock, and they decided to pause it for some time, revealed Bajpayee.
Bajpayee and Kashyap gave one of the biggest blockbusters of all time, Satya. The movie was written by Anurag Kashyap and directed by Ram Gopal Varma. After Satya, the two worked on Kaun and Shool, but some misunderstandings drifted the duo apart. Years later, the two came together for Gangs of Wasseypur, and boom — the magic happened.
Talking about the same, Manoj Bajpayee in an interview with PTI shared, “There was too much misunderstanding, which got cleared up only after we decided to work on Gangs of Wasseypur. But it was a loss not only for both of us but also for our audience because we could really create a lot of magic together. We understood each other, we were just right for each other, and Gangs of Wasseypur proved it right.”
But it has been thirteen years since Wasseypur. Why no more films, even after knowing that they always create magic? Talking about it, the actor said, “We were discussing a film very seriously. But Anurag, being Anurag, he is very unpredictable, and I accept him in all of his flaws — that’s the kind of relationship I have with him. He realised that he was not able to do justice to it as a writer, so we stopped.”
“Let’s see, one fine morning, he will get up and he will have his script. I don’t put any pressure on him at all. He is that kind of person who is never easy with compulsions, whether emotional, physical, or financial,” he added.
Manoj Bajpayee on the Work Front
The actor is currently seen in the thriller drama Inspector Zende. Directed by Chinmay Mandlekar, the film is inspired by the life of real-life Mumbai cop Madhukar Zende, who captured serial killer Charles Sobhraj. In the film, Manoj Bajpayee steps into the shoes of the legendary Mumbai cop, with actor Jim Sarbh playing the role of the antagonist.
Meanwhile, nearly three decades after creating history with Satya, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma and actor Manoj Bajpayee are coming together once again — this time for a haunting horror comedy titled Police Station Mein Bhoot.
Earlier, Manoj Bajpayee shared the first-look motion poster of Police Station Mein Bhoot, which shows him clutching a creepy doll covered in blood, as a chilling voice whispers, “I see you” in the background.
