The driver of a vehicle that collided with an MBTA bus early Sunday has died, according to a statement from the MBTA transit police.
At 4:30 a.m., a 2016 Honda Civic traveling along Western Ave in Lynn crossed over the double yellow traffic line and into the path of travel of an MBTA bus, police said.
The Honda, driven by a 41-year-old male, then collided head on into the bus. The operator of the Honda was pronounced deceased as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash, the statement said.
The driver of the Honda has not been publicly identified as of Sunday morning.
The driver of the MBTA bus did not report any injuries following the crash, police said. The bus was not carrying any passengers at the time of the collision.

“On behalf of the Transit Police Department and the entire MBTA organization we offer our most sincere condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers of the decedent,” Richard Sullivan, superintendent of the MBTA transit police, said in the statement.
An investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and transit police will continue to investigate the incident, police said.
