Eagles Get Key Offensive Weapon Back For Unbeaten Showdown

Eagles Get Key Offensive Weapon Back For Unbeaten Showdown

As far as team health goes, the Philadelphia Eagles have very little to complain about through 2 games to start the 2025 regular season.
The Eagles inactives report for a Week 3 game against the Los Angeles Rams included edge rusher Azeez Ojulari, running back Will Shipley, linebacker Ogbo Okoronkwo, linebacker Patrick Johnson, offensive lineman Drew Kendall and offensive lineman Kenyon Green.
The biggest addition for the Eagles against the Rams will be the return of starting tight end Dallas Goedert, who missed Philadelphia’s Week 2 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
“The Eagles’ top tight end was upgraded to full participation on Friday after being limited on Wednesday and Thursday,” Bleeding Green Nation’s Brandon Lee Gowton wrote on September 19. “Goedert missed Week 2 due to a knee injury. Getting him back is important since his backups haven’t done much to inspire confidence.”

Eagles Must Find Way To Shut Down Dynamic WRs
The impetus for the Eagles will be on figuring out a way to slow down a pair of dynamic, NFL All-Pro wide receivers for the Rams in Davante Adams and Puka Nacua.
Nacua is second in the NFL in receiving with 18 receptions for 221 yards and 1 touchdown while Adams has 10 receptions for 151 yards and 1 touchdown.
The Eagles have struggled to find a reliable answer at the other outside cornerback spot opposite CB1 and 2024 first round pick Quinyon Mitchell — duties that have been split between Adoree Jackson, Kelee Ringo and Jakorian Bennett through the first 2 games.
“Puka Nacua, in my opinion, is a Top 5 NFL wide receiver right now,” The Ringer’s Sheil Kapadia said on “The Philly Special” podcast on September 16. ” … I mean, this is the test that you wanna have. To me, this is a Top 3 team in the NFC. At the absolute worst Top 4. And Puka Nacua is almost always open over the middle of the field. It’s frustrating watching the film sometimes. (The Eagles) are going to have to be on top of their communication overall.”
Because Nakua lines up in the slot quite frequently, that could put him squared up with Cooper DeJean at nickelback in those formations and against Jackson when he’s lined up on the outside — DeJean started 13 games at nickelback as a rookie in 2024, including 9 regular season games and 4 playoff games.
Eagles Swept Rams In 2 Games Last Season
The Eagles posted a pair of wins over the Rams last season thanks to a pair of monster games from 2,000-yard rusher and NFL Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley.
In 2 games against the Rams, Barkley rushed for over 200 yards and 2 touchdowns both times.
In a 37-20 Eagles win in Week 12 of the regular season, Barkley had 26 carries for 255 yards and 2 touchdowns to go with 4 receptions for 47 yards.
In a 28-21 Eagles win over the Rams in the NFC Divisional Round, Barkley had 26 carries for 205 yards and 2 touchdowns — the “Snowquon Game” — including a legendary, helmet-smacking, 78-yard touchdown run.
