NFL Makes Decision on Punishment for Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb

NFL Makes Decision on Punishment for Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb

The Dallas Cowboys are heading into Week 3 with a 1-1 record, and they’re looking to be 2-1 by the time Sunday, September 21 wraps up. The team is up against the Chicago Bears with their new coach, Ben Johnson of the Detroit Lions, but so far, Johnson hasn’t been able to deliver, and the Bears are 0-2, so they’re desperate for a win.
Last weekend, the Cowboys pulled off an overtime win over the New York Giants, but the Bears are likely a tougher team. Looking back at last weekend’s matchup, Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb, one of the team’s most beloved players, made some moves on the field that came under first by the NFL, and now, he’s paying the price.
CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys Gets News From the NFL
Each week, the NFL slaps players with fines. “To protect players from unnecessary risk and preserve competitive balance and game integrity, the NFL and NFL Players Association have agreed on a set of game-related rules violations that may result in accountability measures,” the NFL states. The league updates the roster every Saturday with offenses from the previous week.
“Players are notified of violations and may appeal any ruling,” the NFL adds. “Cases are heard by appeals officers and former NFL players, Derrick Brooks, Ramon Foster or Jordy Nelson, who are jointly appointed and paid by the NFL/NFLPA. The decisions made are final and binding.”
For the Cowboys, Lamb was fined not once by twice for “unsportsmanlike conduct.” George Pickens was also fined twice for the same reason.
Per the NFL, Lamb and Pickens were fined $14,491 each for a touchdown celebration that the league deemed “violent.” It was a choreographed handshake, where both players ended it by mimicking guns in their hands. Pickens was also fined an added $14,491 for removing his helmet before leaving the field and Lamb was fined $11,593 for “taunting.” But, no flags were thrown during that play.
As, over the summer, Lamb and Pickens did that same celebration during practice, and Lamb joked that he would pay Pickens fine. “I’ll pay the fine,” Lamb said at camp, according to Mauricio Rodriguez of A to Z Sports. “But it shouldn’t be a fine, but Lord knows they’re going to give to us. Myself, personally, so we’ll see.”
So, will Lamb make good on his promise and pay Pickens’ fine? It would certainly be a nice gesture. Either way, Lamb is solid, and we love him with the Cowboys.
