Gogglebox star admits they wear a wig after their hair 'fell out'

One of Gogglebox’s newest recruits has opened up about a health battle that resulted in her hair ‘falling out’. Sara, an 87-year-old from Yorkshire, has become the Channel 4 show’s oldest contributor. She made her debut in the latest series, alongside her daughter-in-law Lara, 58. She said she’s suffered hair loss when using a steroid medication, the Mirror reports. Lara asked her: “When did you first decide to get a wig?” Sara then explained: “After I had polymyalgia. When you start tapering your Cortisone down to nothing, the hair starts falling out.” Detailing how she cares for her hair piece, she said: “You have to wash them with special shampoo. “I’ve got a polystyrene head. It is so funny. I can dry it on my polystyrene head, because it doesn’t dry so quickly in the winter.” The duo are one of five new families in the Gogglebox team following the departure of Scottish couple Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle. Other newcomers include pals Jake, 27, and Calum, 31, from Glasgow, and sisters Rosie, 68, and Susie, 70, from Edinburgh. The Gordons from Surrey, comprising parents Andre, 49, and Sarah, 47, alongside their daughter Chee, 25, complete the new line-up, along with married couple Andrew, 62, and Alfie, 32, from the Cotswolds. Mike Cotton, creative director at Studio Lambert, said: “It’s a delight to welcome some new households to the Gogglebox family. “Along with our much loved returning cast, we can’t wait to join them in their living rooms and hear their candid thoughts on this week’s most talked about TV.”
