New Delhi: A day before GST reforms come into effect, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday made a strong pitch for ‘swadeshi’ goods and asserted that the next generation GST reforms will accelerate India’s growth story, increase ease of doing business and attract more investors. “Next gen GST reforms are being implemented from tomorrow, it is like ‘GST saving festival’,” he said. In his address to the nation, PM Modi said ‘GST bachat utsav (savings festival)’ coupled with the income tax exemption, it will be a “double bonanza” for most of the people. “From the first day of Navratri, the country will take a step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat,: he said. Citing the income tax exemption on earning upto Rs 12 lakh and GST reforms, PM Modi said his government move will sweeten the festivals for the middle class, neo-middle class and others.
