Amy Poehler and Olivia Colman slammed for spreading 'irresponsible and dangerous' health advice

Amy Poehler and Olivia Colman have been slammed by fans after proudly sharing they go to work sick, lambasting younger generations for missing work.

Colman appeared on Poehler’s podcast Good Hang with Amy Poehler where they discussed their ‘most Gen-X opinions’ – admitting they have found the younger generation’s work ethic very different to their own.

‘Some of the younger people – I don’t know where it comes from – but if they have a little bit of a cold, they won’t do the show and I don’t understand,’ The Roses actress told Poehler, jokingly adding: ‘Oh no I’m going to be canceled.’

‘I’ve had pneumonia twice. Never missed a day of work while filming,’ Colman, 51, proudly said, while acknowledging the choice was also ‘potentially stupid.’

The SNL alum, 54, admitted she once went to work with a 104 degree temperature when making Shortcut to Happiness with Alex Baldwin and was filming scenes in a complete ‘fever dream.’

‘I was on another planet,’ she recalled. ‘And [Baldwin] was like “wherever you are stay there, perfect” and I was like “I’m in a fever dream.”‘

‘I remember just being completely out of it but never in a million years ever would I [have called out],’ she said incredulously.

However, the comedian noted there was harm in that, adding: ‘I kind of understand this idea of maybe take care of yourself, Gen Xers, a little bit more than you did and not pressure everybody to hustle.

‘But perhaps we’ve overcorrected,’ she quipped.

‘I think there’s a happy medium, isn’t there?’ Colman agreed.

Colman suggested in retrospect, having a 104 degree fever is potentially a day not to be at work.

‘I never missed one day of work on Parks and Rec,’ Poehler bragged, adding she did 120 shows in total on the comedy series.

Poheler, who played Leslie Knope in the long-running comedy series Parks and Recreation from 2009 to 2015, said she has been told in the past that a perfect record isn’t something to celebrate – which Colman disagreed with.

‘I think it is,’ she told the podcast host.

‘I agree,’ Poehler quickly responded, although did admit it may not have been setting the best example.

While celebrating their sick day-less careers, Poheler suggested they were ‘sold a productivity myth’ in their younger years that made them never want to call out and there has been a slight ‘overcorrection’ in the attitude towards it.

While the actresses appear to stand by their decisions, horrified fans took to the comment section to berate them for going to work knowing they were unwell.

‘Going to work sick with communicable diseases isn’t admirable, especially when you can afford to stay home and are simply choosing to go to work,’ one outraged fan wrote. ‘If you have pneumonia, you have no business being at work. Stay home and recover.’

‘Love both of them, but please don’t go to work sick,’ begged someone else. ‘You also model this to your kids. Wouldn’t you keep them at home when they’re not feeling well?’

‘Loved the rest of this episode, but this is not the message to be sharing. I was shocked and disappointed hearing this part. It’s irresponsible and dangerous for both yourselves and others around you – please stay home and recover,’ encouraged someone else.

‘Please don’t do this – signed the coworker who always gets sick from these people,’ another alarmed fan wrote.

‘With all the love in my heart, suffering for work is not itttttttt,’ slammed someone else.

One fan said they used to share the same sentiment in their 20s to 30s, but not anymore.

‘I’m taking rest days,’ they declared. ‘PTO. Sick days. Mental health days. Everything. This is the only life we get.
