CalaPop Festival returns to bid farewell to summer

Farewell to the summer as Mijas Costa and Fuengirola are set to ignite the beaches with the return of CalaPop 2025, a rockin’ celebration of power-pop, garage, punk, and rock’n’roll on Friday and Saturday, September 19 and 20.

This is the 15th year of the festival, which began as Fuengirola Pop in 2008 and rebranded in 2022, and it will transform the Costa del Sol into a boutique celebration for fans of the coolest of sounds, limited to an intimate crowd of 400.

Held mostly at El Charcón Beach, with additional events at Bar Mala Vida and Discoteca Maxy, CalaPop promises a weekend of sharp guitars, infectious melodies, and non-stop dancing against a Mediterranean backdrop. Over the years, the festival has hosted more than 220 cult artists, from The Beach Boys to The Peawees, along witCalapoph legendary DJs like Juan de Pablos and Guille Milkyway, making it one of Spain’s most authentic music events.

This year’s lineup is an electrifying mix: Angela Hoodoo brings outlaw country rock, Cadiz-based Howlin’ Ramblers deliver high-octane rockabilly, Portugal’s The Pages channel the mod revival, and London’s The Speedways, celebrated as one of today’s top power-pop acts, will light up the stage. Saturday keeps the energy soaring with The Silver Beats paying tribute to The Beatles, Asturian rockers Pelazo, garage-soul maestro Ian Kay, and Italy’s The Peawees closing with their rhythmic fury. All-night DJ sets will keep the dance floor alive until dawn.

Other than music, CalaPop offers literary talks, including presentations of books like Oh La La! about Ronnie Lane and Adolfo, plus an art exhibition, Alvaroscopio, presenting illustrator Alvaro Ortega, who designed this year’s poster.

True to its roots, CalaPop remains a force for good, with proceeds supporting the Mijas Costa Domestic Animal Shelter (PAD). With sun, sea, cold beers, and endless dancing, CalaPop 2025 is the best way to bid farewell to summer. For more details and tickets, visit calapop.com.
