Hamilton Princess Unveils Julien Opie Sculpture
Hamilton Princess & Beach Club has unveiled Nethaneel.2024, a minimalist concrete portrait by acclaimed British artist Julien Opie, as the newest feature in its Sculpture Garden.
A spokesperson said, “Hamilton Princess & Beach Club unveils a striking new addition to its Sculpture Garden with Nethaneel.2024, a minimalist concrete portrait by renowned British artist Julien Opie.
“The piece depicts British Olympic sprinter Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake, who secured a bronze medal in the 4x100m relay at the Paris 2024 Games. Part of Opie’s Everyone series — first exhibited at London’s Sculpture in the City 2024 — Nethaneel.2024 embodies Opie’s signature style: a pared-down, symmetrical depiction of faces, evoking facial recognition systems and universal human identity.
“The sculpture joins an esteemed collection of contemporary works in the garden, including Yue Minjun’s Warrior No. 10, Sylvestre Gauvrit’s Princesse des Airs, and Daniel Arsham’s Bronze Eroded Astronaut.
“Additional Opie works can be found throughout the property, such as Heads in the hotel lobby and Walking in Sinsa-dong 3, displayed as a mural at the 16O9 Marina Bar.”
