Tributes pour for 'beloved' young man who died in Kerry road tragedy

Tributes have poured in for a “beloved” young man who tragically lost his life after a collision in Kerry over the weekend.

David Siegel, aged in his 20s, sadly lost his life following a single-vehicle collision on the N69 at Ballingowan near Tralee in Co Kerry shortly after 10am, Sunday September 14.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident, which involved a car, and rushed to the scene.

Tragically, David, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

David, who lived in Tralee was a keen athlete, previously competing in the All-Ireland’s Schools Championship and the Tailtean games, winning medals for the shot put, CorkBeo reports.

David’s brother Dominik took to social media to share a heartbreaking tribute to his beloved sibling.

He wrote: “My beloved brother, words can’t explain how I feel right now I don’t know whether I should feel anger, sorrow or pain, at this point I’m just empty,

“David was an angel sent down from heaven to us, no matter the day it was he was always with a smile on his face cheering other people up knowing he was going through stuff himself.

“He was the world’s greatest brother and I would kill just to see his face again. He always put people above himself no matter the situation, he will forever live in our hearts. Rip my beloved brother.”

Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision to come forward.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this collision. They are particularly appealing to those with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, from the area at the time to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Tralee Garda Station at 066 7102300, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
