With the implementation of GST 2.0, Godrej Appliances is targeting a 40 per cent year-on-year growth this festival season alone, and up to 30 per cent growth in sales in FY26.
“We are confident that with the drop in GST, the festival season will see a spike in demand, especially for air conditioners. The biggest clincher for us as a brand has been the five-year warranty that increased our sales last year. We expect the same this year as well. Sentiments during Onam were dampened because consumers postponed their purchases to September 22. The overall sentiment has been low over the last two months. Consumers will have more discretionary purchases, especially in appliances,” Kamal Nandi, Business Head and EVP at Appliances Business of Godrej Enterprises Group, told businessline.
While premium products are on a growth trajectory for the company, it is anticipating a pick-up in the mass market segment after September 22. The company organised a roadshow in Mumbai on Friday for traders to display its product portfolio that will cater to the festival season. Further, Godrej is expecting up to 30 per cent year-on-year growth in FY26.
“The drop in GST across sectors will bring down the expenditure budget and, therefore, we expect the mass market segment consumption to go up. With the agriculture segment being good, Tier 2, Tier 3 and Tier 4 markets should consume better this year. Our target is to grow 40 per cent year-on-year, but I do not see that happening. The growth should be between 20 to 30 per cent, depending on the quarter three and quarter four sales,” he said.
Retailers’ expectation
Nandi said retailers are planning to open stores early on September 22 expecting consumers in the morning.
“We have information that some big chains in the country are going to open their stores at 6.00 am. I believe September 22 will be bigger than Dhanteras,” he added.
businessline had earlier reported that large retail formats such as Croma, Reliance Digital, and Lotus Electronics are offering low double-digit discounts and freebies with white goods products to clear the current inventory. Their online platforms are offering discounts of up to 70 per cent on durables and electronics.
