Man rushed to hospital over Midland swimming pool attack

A man was seriously hurt after he was punched in the face at the side of a Midland swimming pool. Police said the man, in his 50s, was assaulted inside the leisure centre at about 2.20pm on Sunday, September 7. He needed treatment in hospital for his injuries after collapsing to the ground and hitting his head. Leicestershire Police said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a report of assault at a Leicester leisure centre. “The incident happened at around 2.20pm on Sunday, September 7, at premises in Beaumont Way, Beaumont Leys. READ MORE: Exact date Wetherspoon to cut prices on food and drink in all UK pubs “A man in his 50s was punched in the face at the side of the swimming pool by another man, who then left the leisure centre shortly afterwards. “The punch caused the victim to fall to the ground, hitting his head. “He suffered serious injuries that required hospital treatment as a result. “Following further enquiries, a 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent on Tuesday, September 9. “He has since been released on bail.” Police are now keen to speak to anyone who was in the pool at the time of the alleged incident.
