Millennials and Gen Z are driving India’s wealth boom, and speed matters to them: Report

TIL CreativesUnlike earlier generations who relied on traditional brokers and paper-based processes, today’s investors expect fast, intuitive, app-based platforms, finds the report.

India’s wealth management industry is witnessing a generational shift, powered largely by millennials and Gen Z investors who demand digital-first, mobile-driven platforms. According to a new industry report, the average Indian investor today is in their early 30s, with nearly half under the age of 30. These younger investors are not only reshaping the investor base but also influencing how wealth platforms design their onboarding journeys and digital services.Young investors, new expectationsUnlike earlier generations who relied on traditional brokers and paper-based processes, today’s investors expect fast, intuitive, app-based platforms. A significant share of these investors come from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, underscoring the spread of digital finance beyond metros. Mobile-first platforms and AI-driven financial guidance have become the norm, with younger investors showing little patience for slow onboarding or lengthy form fills.Where investors drop offThe WealthTech Onboarding Excellence Report, released by HyperVerge and The Digital Fifth, found that nearly 35% of investors fail to cross the Know Your Customer (KYC) stage. Lengthy verification processes, poor document upload systems, and clunky onboarding flows were identified as the main reasons for investor drop-offs. In contrast, platforms that use data-led nudges and frictionless verification see up to double the completion rates.Kedar Kulkarni, Founder and CEO of HyperVerge, said the new wave of investors is reshaping expectations in the financial industry. “Young investors today expect the same experience from financial apps that they get from any other digital service — fast, simple, and mobile-first. If a platform takes too long or asks for too much paperwork, they simply move on. That is why fixing onboarding is no longer a back-end issue but central to growth,” Kulkarni said.Industry-wide implicationsThe rise of digital-first investors has implications across the financial ecosystem, from banks and brokers to fintech firms. Sameer Singh Jaini, CEO of The Digital Fifth, noted that the industry is at a crucial stage. “The wealth industry is at a turning point. Millennials and Gen Z are entering the markets in large numbers, and they won’t tolerate friction. Firms that can offer quick verification, intuitive design, and smart use of AI will win their trust. Those who don’t adapt risk losing an entire generation of investors,” Sameer Jaini said.Live EventsSpeed as a growth leverThe findings underline a clear message: India’s new generation of investors values speed, simplicity, and seamless digital experiences. As millennials and Gen Z continue to dominate the investor landscape, WealthTech platforms that address onboarding frictions will be best positioned to capture long-term growth in one of the world’s fastest-expanding financial markets.Add as a Reliable and Trusted News Source Add Now!
