The Met Office has issued a six-point ‘flood plan’ as “heavy rainfall” is forecast in the UK this weekend. Weather experts have identified 28 parts of the country impacted by a yellow weather warning spanning from 9am on Saturday (September 18) until 6am on Sunday (September 19). The Met Office has included a ‘what to expect’ section on its warning website, which clarifies there is a “small chance” some homes and businesses could be flooded. It explained flooding could in turn cause a “slight chance” of delays or cancellations to trains and buses. READ MORE: Power cuts ‘likely’ in 28 parts of England on Saturday and Sunday The specialists added: “Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures. “There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life.” As well as general advice about staying safe during heavy rainfall, the Met Office also included how to stay safe if you are impacted by flooding. The website states: “It’s never too late to take action and prepare for flooding. Follow these 6 simple steps to protect your home or business.” In the plan, it covers everything from making sure your mobile phone is charged to keeping a flood kit nearby in the event flooding occurs.
