State seeks public input on 10-year infrastructure plan

State officials will hold a public hearing next week on priorities for improving transportation infrastructure in New Hampshire.

The Keene session is scheduled for Monday at 6 p.m. in room 14 of the recreation center at 312 Washington St., the N.H. Department of Transportation announced in a news release.

It’s one of several similar sessions designed to solicit feedback on the draft of the state’s 10-year transportation improvement plan. The plan will guide spending priorities and infrastructure projects from 2027-2036. Those who cannot be at the meeting can submit their feedback in writing between now and Oct. 5 to the N.H. Department of Transportation, according to the news release.

Among the projects in the draft plan is a $20 million proposal to reconstruct Winchester Street from Route 101 to Market Basket between Keene and Swanzey and replace the Swamp Brook Bridge in that area, with construction slated for 2027-2030.

Another project, scheduled from 2029-2031, is a $31.5 million overhaul of Route 101 in Keene east of Optical Avenue to Branch Road, according to the plan.

The state agency proposes earmarking roughly $4 million to improve the intersection of Routes 9, 10, 12 and 101 to reduce delays in 2029. NHDOT also plans to spend $6.8 million on a project for corridor improvements to West Street in Keene from the intersection of Routes 9, 10 and 12 to School Street in 2033.

Other towns in the Monadnock Region, including Antrim and Acworth, Charlestown, Fitzwilliam, Gilsum, Marlow and Nelson to name a few, would also see improvement projects under the draft plan.
