Strictly Come Dancing viewers have made their opinions crystal clear regarding Amy Dowden’s most recent partnership on the beloved BBC dancing programme. The 35-year-old Welsh professional dancer has cultivated a devoted fanbase since joining the Strictly line-up in 2017. Nevertheless, her supporters have been left utterly dismayed by her pairing with Thomas Skinner for the current series. The former Apprentice candidate’s participation in the programme has sparked a torrent of backlash due to his contentious social media remarks. “THEY ACTUALLY PUT AMY WITH HIM. Hasn’t she been through enough. WTF BBC #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing,” raged one Twitter /X user. “Poor Amy. She is really due a break #strictly,” commented another. A third chimed in: “WHO THE F*** DID THAT TO AMY. WE NEED TO HAVE SOME BIG BIG WORDS. #Strictly “Why did they do this to Amy. #strictly,” another remarked. However, Tom expressed he is “over the moon” with the partnership as he quipped that he hopes Amy can instruct him in a few steps, reports the Mirror . He recently encountered American vice president JD Vance during his UK visit, sparking outrage across social media platforms. Additionally, he has become embroiled in an infidelity controversy in recent weeks, with his former lover threatening to expose everything after Skinner had insisted it was merely a brief encounter. Despite the public outcry and promises to reveal further details, Skinner has been swift to assert that he and his cherished wife, Sinead, had moved past it and had dismissed the incident entirely. They appeared beaming alongside their three children just days prior to the Strictly launch programme. Speaking to The Sun, Skinner declared: “We are in an incredible place now. We are strong. It’s forgotten about.” Skinner is amongst fifteen celebrities gracing the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor this series, all vying for the prestigious Glitter Ball trophy. After his participation was revealed, Skinner expressed being “beyond excited” about joining the BBC dancing programme. He also revealed that he had “never danced in my life other than at weddings”. His statement read: “I’m beyond excited to be joining Strictly Come Dancing. I’ve tackled the boardroom and some big breakfasts in my time but stepping onto the dance floor under that glitter ball is next level stuff!”. “I’ve never danced in my life (other than at weddings) but I’m ready to graft and of course have a laugh. Bring on the sequins, sambas and most importantly, the BOSH to the ballroom!”. After criticism surrounding his casting announcement, BBC director general Tim Davie publicly backed the decision to include Skinner. He informed MPs on the Culture, Media and Sport committee that the casting team selects participants they believe will captivate viewers. Strictly Come Dancing live shows start on Saturday, September 27, on BBC One and iPlayer
