Michigan’s football team opens Big Ten play in what is expected to be a hostile environment.
The 21st-ranked Wolverines (2-1) and Nebraska (3-0) kick off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Lincoln. Michigan has won four straight in the series dating back to 2018 and is coming off a 63-3 victory over Central Michigan last week.
It had its most explosive offensive performance since 2016 by racking up 616 yards of offense. Moving the ball against the Cornhuskers could be more challenging. They rank second in total defense (202 yards per game) and first in passing defense (66 yards per game).
Meanwhile, former five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola is off to a sizzling start, throwing for 829 yards and eight touchdowns to zero interceptions. Most of that production has come in the past two weeks in blowout wins over Akron and Houston Christian.
The Wolverines will be without head coach Sherrone Moore once again as he serves the second of his two-game suspension this season. They didn’t miss a beat against CMU with Biff Poggi on the sideline and will look to carry that success on the road. In Michigan’s first road test this season, they stumbled against Oklahoma, losing 24-13.
