Pakistan are gearing up for the all-important Super 4 game against India. Apart from sharpening their on-field skills, the Men in Green are also working on the mental aspect and they have hired Dr Raheel Karim in their quest to defeat India. The 40-year experienced Consultant Psychiatrist is conducting sessions with the team. His sessions include techniques for managing anxiety, blocking external distractions and turning pressure into motivation. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants to help players manage the immense pressure before the India game. Also, the board wants players to be stress-free, positive and composed. India registered a one-sided win over Pakistan in the league stage. Ahead of the Super Sunday match between India and Pakistan, here we know more about Doctor Raheel Karim – Doctor Karim did his postgraduate training in Psychiatry from King Edward Medical College in England. He started psychiatric training in Britain in 1984. Doctor Karim has been a Consultant Psychiatrist/Associate Professor in different colleges in Pakistan. He has been involved in training and recruitment of psychiatric trainees in England. Doctor Karim has specialised training and expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. His profile doesn’t mention anything about him working with any cricket or sports team. But his addition could benefit Pakistan, who have mostly struggled against India in the big events for many years now. They did manage to defeat India in the 2021 T20 World Cup, but they have been struggling for a long time. Once again, India enter the match as favourite and are expected to register another comfortable win over them. India are the defending Asia Cup Champions, and have put on a solid show in the tournament so far. Oman did give India a scare in their last league stage game but there’s nothing much to worry about. Suryakumar Yadav didn’t bat against Oman.
