KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 35 people have been killed and more than 130 others injured after Israeli aircraft bombed Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, and Al-Jawf province.
Associated Press reported: “Israel launched another round of heavy airstrikes in Yemen on Wednesday, killing dozens just days after Houthi rebels carried out a drone attack that struck an Israeli airport”.
AP quoted the Houthi-run Yemeni Ministry of Health as saying that at least 35 individuals have been killed and more than 130 others injured in these attacks.
Most of the victims were in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, where a military base and a gas station were targeted, the report added.
This is the second major Israeli attack in less than 48 hours; earlier, an airstrike in Doha killed several senior members of the Hamas movement, and tensions in the region have risen to an unprecedented level following these developments.
Various countries, including Qatar, Turkey, Iran, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, have strongly condemned Israel’s recent attacks, calling them a clear violation of international law and a threat to regional stability.
Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said he plans to pursue sanctions and a partial trade suspension against Israel over the war in the Gaza Strip, adding to Israel’s unprecedented global isolation.
