The Disney Destiny has departed from the Meyer Werft shipyard to undergo sea trials ahead of its maiden voyage later this year.
Disney Destiny Departs for Sea Trials
The Destiny celebrated its first float out, earlier this year. Now, the vessel will travel to Eemshaven, Netherlands, before it heads out for sea trials in the North Sea. The ship was met with a celebratory fireworks display as it made its way out of Papenburg, Germany.
The ship will need to complete a series of sea trials before being handed over to Disney Cruise Line. It will likely make the transatlantic sailing to Florida in late October or early November. The Disney Destiny sets off on its maiden voyage on November 20 from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The inaugural sailings season will continue for a few months following the ship’s official debut and will include special gifts for Castaway Club members. Multiple brand new experiences will debut aboard the heroes and villains-themed ship, including a Broadway-style “Hercules” stage show and a Super Minnie meet and greet.
