Honor Magic v5 Pro review: The perfect foldable that's solved one major issue (finally)

The world of foldable phones has stagnated recently – but there finally might be a standout entry. For the last few years, everyone under the sun has been trying to make the best foldable. And outside of maybe the OnePlus attempt, the rest have been a bit underwhelming and all contained one huge issue – the hinge. Step forward the Honor Magic V5 Pro, which I’m hoping the magic stands for “magic hinge that doesn’t show up”. I’ve been testing this device out for a month or so now and I’m genuinely in love with it, mainly because there’s no major line across the middle of the screen like the ones made by Samsung or any other rival. Firstly, the spec: Here are the specifications for the HONOR Magic V5 in a list format, based on the image you provided: Depth & Weight: Battery: Display: OLED display Processor: Camera: Water & Dust Resistance: Memory: The phone itself is super thing, and a piece of technical marvel. Even folded, it’s thinner than my daily driver (the OnePlus 13), which wasn’t exactly a chonky handset. Opened, I genuinley worried at first that I was going to snap it if I held it too hard, but it’s very sturdy and I had no reason to worry. The screen, with its eye comfort technology and smooth 1b colours make this phone perfect for watching long films on if you’re travelling by train of plane – there was no worries about eye strain at all. The cameras are good, but not standout. However, I would say that you’re not buying a phone like this for the camera tech. Battery life is great, I went a full day without charging even once on several occasions – this is a big win in my book, as foldable usually take up a lot of juice across a day just doing simple tasks. Overall, this for me has taken the top spot in the foldable market, and although some would say about £1,300 is a tad expensive, it’s actually worth it for the amount of tech you get with it. 9/10.
