UNIBEN Releases Screening Results, Begins Admission Process

The University of Benin (UNIBEN), one of Nigeria’s premier federal institutions, has officially released the results of its Post-UTME (PUTME) and Direct Entry (DE) screening exercises, marking the kickoff of the 2025/2026 academic session admission process.

This announcement comes as thousands of prospective students eagerly await their eligibility for undergraduate programs at the esteemed university.

According to a statement from the university’s admissions office, the screening results for both UTME and Direct Entry candidates are now accessible via the official portal at uniben.edu. Candidates who participated in the computer-based screening held earlier this year are urged to log in using their registration credentials to check their status.

Successful applicants will proceed to the next phase, which involves the submission of required documents and payment of acceptance fees to secure their spots.

The release of these results follows a rigorous screening process designed to ensure only qualified candidates are admitted, amid ongoing efforts by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to maintain high standards in Nigeria’s tertiary education system.

UNIBEN, known for its competitive cut-off marks and diverse academic offerings in fields like engineering, medicine, law, and social sciences, screened over 20,000 applicants this year—a slight increase from previous cycles, reflecting the growing demand for quality education in the region.

University spokesperson, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire, emphasized the importance of timely action for qualified candidates.

“We congratulate all successful applicants and encourage them to complete the admission formalities promptly to avoid missing out on the limited slots available,” she said in a press release.

“UNIBEN remains committed to upholding academic excellence and providing a conducive environment for learning.”

For those who did not meet the required thresholds, the university has advised exploring alternative options, including supplementary admissions or other institutions.

The admission process is expected to run for the next four weeks, with lectures commencing in early October for the new session.
