“What kind of rivalry?” - Suryakumar Yadav cooks Pakistan, promises India a Super Sunday

India National Cricket Team T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has promised the fans a Super Sunday, a day ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 match against the Pakistan National Cricket Team.
In the Super Four stage, India and Pakistan will lock horns with each other for the second time in the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Stadium on September 21.
India destroyed Pakistan in the Group Stage
The first India vs Pakistan clash since the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor was held at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, September 14.
It was expected to be a thrilling contest, but Pakistan looked way too weak while facing India, and they were annihilated by Suryakumar Yadav & Co.
The only thing that went Pakistan’s way was the toss, as they won it and opted to bat first. Salman Agha’s team posted just 127/9 on the board, that too because of Shaheen Afridi’s fireworks down the order.
While chasing the target, explosive India opener Abhishek Sharma toyed with the Pakistan bowling unit and played a stunning knock. Although India lost three wickets, they were always in control and eventually won the match by 7 wickets with 25 balls remaining.
I mean, the way the country always supports us in every game – Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav attended the press conference where he was asked about celebrations across India after the last game against Pakistan.
He replied that the people were celebrating because they won and urged the Indian fans to sit back and enjoy Sunday’s match against the Men In Green.
“We won, that’s why they are celebrating. I mean, the way the country always supports us in every game, the same way they should support us in this game also. And it is Sunday, so I think more people will watch the match,” he said, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
“So sit comfortably and enjoy the game. And when we go to the ground, we will try to play with the same intensity, with the same energy. And we always try to keep our A game ahead. And we will try the same in the whole ground.”

If we talk about rivalry, I don’t know what kind of rivalry you are talking about – Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav was further asked if the current rivalry between India and Pakistan is as intense as it was in the 2000s. The Indian skipper responded by taking a sly dig at Pakistan and stated that every time he walks in the middle and sees a packed stadium, he tells his teammates to play an entertaining brand of cricket, without thinking about rivalries. Suryakumar Yadav elaborated:
“At that time, I don’t know. I have never played. So I can’t say,” he laughed. “If we talk about rivalry, I don’t know what kind of rivalry you are talking about. After going on the ground, I feel that the stadium is full. And when the stadium is full, I tell my team and everyone that it is time for entertainment.
“So many people have come to watch the match, so you have to entertain everyone. Let’s play some good brand of cricket. And according to me, we don’t think much.
“We have played three games. We enjoyed winning all three games as much as we enjoyed winning the first game. So I feel every game is a new challenge. We take it in stride and it feels good. We win and learn something from it and try to do it in the next game.”
