Western tourists often attract attention and respect when visiting smaller countries, but a recent incident in Laos showed a different side. A white woman unintentionally scared a group of local children, due to which they were seen running and crying. In the video, the woman initially seems puzzled by the children’s reaction, but she soon understands that they were afraid to come near her because of her white skin.
In the video, the woman visited a school in Laos and informed viewers that very few tourists visit the village. After noticing the children were scared of her, she suggested that they might already know how foreigners, especially white people, behave. After the video went online, many people on social media joked about the incident. One person suggested that the children might have been scared because in some cultures, pale people are sometimes linked to ghosts or evil spirits.
Children in Laos get scared of White Woman
In the video shared on Reddit, the woman can be heard saying, “Are they scared of us? Not many tourists come here. Bro, the kids are running away. One kid is crying. These kids are smart. They know what white people do, you know.”
Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “I too am frightened of influencers. Smart kids.”
Another shared, “Pale beings are commonly associated with the dead or evil spirits.”
“It’s creepy that she is recording children without their parents’ permission. She could have posted a video of just herself talking about how kids got scared of her without ever showing a kid,” a comment read.
An individual stated, “Why is she being a tourist here? It’s clearly a school or something. SO weird.”
One more added, “I would think these kids have at least watched a movie or seen a magazine with white people, western culture is too widespread.”
Another viewer criticised the woman for her behaviour, saying that if the children were genuinely scared and crying, she should feel very embarrassed and upset, not laugh or continue to follow the child.
