At least six persons from two families sustained burn injuries, and two motorcycles parked on the ground floor were damaged in an accidental fire that broke out at a three-storeyed residential house in Krishna Layout of Electronics City in the early hours of Tuesday.
The police suspect that the fire broke out in the electricity meter board due to a suspected electrical short circuit. Passers-by noticed the fire and alerted the Hoysala patrolling vehicle, which joined the rescue operation.
According to the Electronics City police, four persons staying on the ground floor were stuck inside due to the smoke and came out later. The injured were shifted to the hospital. Among the victims, Sheela, 44, sustained severe burn injuries and is being treated at the ICU in Victoria Hospital. The other victims, namely Gopi, 49, Abhishek, 18, Ramya, 28, sustained minor injuries.
Two more people staying on the third floor were rescued with minor injuries and are being treated at the hospital, the police said.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the police said.
