John Cena vs Brock Lesnar: 'Real Reason' Match is Kicking Off WWE Wrestlepalooza

John Cena and Brock Lesnar are set to battle it out one final time at Wrestlepalooza this evening, the 20th of September. It will be another milestone stop on Cena’s farewell tour, and the ultimate instalment in a legendary rivalry that has spanned over two decades.
Ever since the schedule for Wrestlepalooza was announced, there have been mixed opinions surrounding the placement of Cena and Lesnar’s crunch match, with the pair lacing up first, and WWE legend Bully Ray, better known as Bubba Ray Dudley, has given his two pence as to why it could be just right.
Speaking on the latest episode of “Busted Open Radio” alongside Dave Lagreca, the pair discussed the huge implications of the bout opening Wrestlepalooza, and the strategic reasoning as to why WWE placed the contest there.
Such a match-up between two gigantic names in WWE would’ve perhaps been expected to be the main event, though, Ray and Lagreca pointed to exactly why this event specifically is the perfect moment for the bout to kick Wrestlepalooza off, with the former noting the competitive indications that the match placement has, particularly with AEW’s All Out.
“Trivia question. What’s the first match we’ve ever saw on ESPN? Brock Lesnar and John Cena,” Bully stated. “That’s the answer to the trivia question… It’s the two biggest names.
“I believe that the main event of All Out will be in the ring at about seven o’clock. So now wrestling fans, what are they watching?… Are they watching the main event of All Out, or are they watching the two of the absolute biggest names on the planet… kicking off the night on ESPN?”

Ray and Lagreca then argued about who they think the winner will be, and what the potential consequences could be for WWE and Cena’s farewell tour moving forward.
Ray noted: “I think John wins. I think that first show on ESPN is about putting smiles on people’s faces. I think it is going to be an extremely positive night.”
Lagreca, meanwhile, disagreed, arguing why a win for Lesnar would provide greater intrigue and interest in Cena’s tour.
“The shock and surprise of Brock Lesnar beating John Cena, I think that’s going to make people say ‘What just happened?’ Let’s give them a cliffhanger.”
The pair finished on what Cena’s final run has meant for the business, once more arguing for and against this match with Lesnar. Ray felt this tour should have promoted more talent, noting: “What good does it do any other talent in WWE if these two guys are married to each other until John’s final match appearance?”
Lagreca fashionably opposed the views of his counterpart. Cena has given his all to WWE for over two decades, while the co-host passionately debated that the tour should be all about Cena’s illustrious career: “This is all about John, and it’s all about John’s victory lap.”
Lesnar and Cena are set for one final dance in the ring, and these two icons in WWE will be sure to kick off Wrestlepalooza with a contest to remember.
