A “danger to life” warning has been issued across 49 areas in the UK as strong and ferocious winds are likely to cause major disruption, the Met Office has said.
The yellow weather warning, in place from Sunday, September 14 at 8pm until 6pm the following day, urges Brits to check for loose items outside their home and secure them to avoid injury. “There is a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris,” the forecaster warned. Those in the affected areas can also expect damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs, spray or large waves in coastal towns and travel chaos, with a chance some roads and bridges could close. Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
