Uttarakhand is witnessing heavy rains and cloudbursts across the capital, Dehradun, and other parts. The overflowing rivers have washed away buildings, roads, and bridges. Over 600 stranded in different locations in the hill state. Disaster Response personnel on Tuesday rescued a total of 200 students who were stranded after the Devbhoomi Institute campus located in the Paunda area of Dehradun. Amid this, the students are confused if schools will remain closed tomorrow or not. Any official announcement regarding the same has not been made yet. However, a private school student from Uttarakhand has confirmed that schools are closed tomorrow for Vishwakarma pooja. Students must be in touch with their respective schools for accurate information on school holiday. Vishwakarma Puja is a festival dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishwakarma. Celebrated by Hindus across several Indian states, it honors the deity regarded as the seventh son of Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe. According to belief, every structure and creation in the world is attributed to Lord Vishwakarma’s blessings. Due to rains, roads are breached, and several bridges have been washed away in Dehradun district. Several roads, houses, and shops were damaged, and bridges were washed away. A road in Nainital has been blocked by debris brought by a landslide triggered by heavy rain. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the rain-affected areas of Dehradun district to review the situation on the ground. (With inputs from PTI)
