Strictly's Amy Dowden had the most beautiful message from her mother after NTA loss

Strictly Come Dancing’s Amy Dowden, has shared a heartwarming message on social media following her time at the National Television Awards . The professional dancer, 35, was nominated in the authored documentary category for her BBC documentary Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me at the ceremony last night, Wednesday, September 10. The documentary followed Amy’s health battle after her cancer diagnosis, as she bravely shared her experiences undergoing a mastectomy, having chemotherapy, and undergoing fertility treatment. She revealed earlier this month that she wouldn’t be present during the NTAs due to scheduling conflicts with the new series of Strictly Come Dancing. Her parents, Richard and Gillian (who feature in the documentary), instead took her place at the award ceremony. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter Amy shared a heartfelt moment on her Instagram story following the event, once she was reunited with her family. It read: “After this pic my mam just said tonight was fab, but the best thing of all is that we still have you! You’re still with us. So glad they had the best time” The wholesome message from Amy’s mam was shared alongside a group photo of the family, who took her place at the National Television Awards. Amy later shared a video reiterating what Gillian said, tearing up: “She said to Jackie (producer on the documentary) we’ve still got Amy, Amy’s still with us.” Amy shared the picture after posting a statement about missing out on the award to Molly-Mae Hague who won for her Prime Video documentary, Molly-Mae: Behind It All. The dancer penned: “Huge congratulations to Molly Mae on your NTA win! It’s been an honour to be nominated alongside such powerful and inspiring documentaries. “I’m incredibly proud to have been nominated for my documentary Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me. When I made the deeply personal decision to share my breast cancer journey, it was to raise awareness, promote early detection and give hope and strength to others going through it. An NTA nomination was just the icing on the cake. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who voted and supported the documentary. Your messages, love and encouragement mean the world to me. I promise to keep using my voice to raise awareness, support others, and shine a light on the reality of breast cancer.” Fans have criticised Molly Mae’s win , however others have backed the TV personality. This includes her partner, Tommy Fury who said: “Words can’t describe!!!So unbelievably proud of you. Well done,” before adding a string of heart emojis.” Amy will be returning to the dancefloor later this month, as Strictly Come Dancing returns to our screens. You’ll be able to watch the live launch of the dancing competition on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday, September 20 at 6.40pm.
