Principal of C. H. Reeves, Dr. Sterling McPhee intends to make a formal complaint against parents who got into an altercation on school grounds.
The incident stemmed from an argument among female students that begun in the last school year. The disagreement turned into a physical brawl on Thursday past. A parent teacher conference that included a district superintendent of the ministry of education and the school resource officer was convened.
Dr. McPhee said, “we had all the parents, met with them on the inside of the auditorium. We were able to gather them together. Sadly to say that there was really no resolve at that particular time. The instruction was given by Superintendent if parents felt as if they needed and wanted to make a formal complaint against the other parent that was the instruction that he gave. Now we don’t know whether or not that has happened, but like I said, here at C. H. Reeves I’m going to be making a formal complaint due to the behavior of the parents in front of our princes and princesses.”
The altercation between the parents took place in the main square in full view of teachers and students. Dr. McPhee said, “we were dealing with the young ladies. We were dealing with the situation but sadly when the parents came, to me, they did not come with the right attitude. And this is one of the reasons I’m making a formal complaint.”
According to the C. H. Reeves Principal schools are contending with what is happening in homes. He said, “Most of our children here, very respectful students. But when we see parents coming on compass and we see how they conduct themselves then we get to see a bigger picture.”
The female students involved in the initial brawl have been suspended for two weeks.
