Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman could join LALIGA in January.
Atletico Madrid are reportedly readying to make a return for Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman in the January transfer window after failing to land the former Fulham man in January.
The 27-year-old pushed to leave Atalanta in January, with a move to Inter on his mind; however, the Nerazzurri failed to match La Dea’s ask, with the Bergamo-based club drawing a hard line.
Lookman went on strike to force the move, fracturing his relationship with the club. He has returned to training with the squad but has yet to play a match this season, keeping the speculations around his future alive.
Atletico Madrid’s interest
The Spanish side were one of the clubs interested in Lookman, with Pulse Sports reporting that they reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with the Nigeria international.
However, Atletico Madrid needed to sell one of their forwards to submit a bid. Also, the Nigerian prioritised a move to Internazionale.
According to Gazetaexpress, they retain this interest and could make a return for the former Leipzig forward in the January transfer window, as Diego Simeone is still an admirer of Lookman’s qualities.
Meanwhile, Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has opened up on the possibility of star player Ademola Lookman returning to the first-team squad.
