Amer’s journey has been filled with persistence. Known for his flair, vision, and technical quality at Nice Ibrahim Sporting Club, his rise earned him a call-up to Ghana’s Under 20 squad for the African Cup of Nations earlier this year.
Though Ghana’s Black Satellites bowed out at the quarter-final stage against Egypt on penalties, the teenager made his debut in the final group game against the Central African Republic.
According to Ghanafa.org, he was introduced in stoppage time, a brief outing, but one that confirmed he was on the radar of national selectors.
Despite being overlooked for the WAFU Cup tournament in July, Amer refused to be discouraged.
He threw himself into individual training sessions, sharpening his craft while quietly waiting for an opening abroad. That patience has now paid off with his European breakthrough, per Ghanasoccernet.
Andre Ayew, others react to Michael Amer’s move
The move has been met with praise and encouragement.
His Black Satellites teammate, hayford_boahen_ commented:
“Congrats bro 🙏🍾🍾”
While others like _ibmjnr and delali_joe added heartfelt congratulations.
One message stood out above the rest. Former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew, a man who carved out a memorable career in France, particularly during his stint with Olympique Marseille, sent his blessings.
“Congratulations, young blood. We are all with you…the beginning of a long journey,” Ayew wrote.

Ghanaian sports journalist Mohammed Shaban, who first broke the story on X, also highlighted the significance of the move in an interview with YEN.com.gh.
“Michael Amer’s move is significant — at just 19, he now has the platform to grow, and by the time he’s 21, he should be pushing for a place in a top-flight first team.”
With his signature on a European contract, the young Mahama is stepping into a new chapter, carrying not only the weight of expectation but also the pride of Ghanaian supporters eager to see another youngster rise on the world stage.
