Setting Indian immigration straightAn important observation seems to be missing from commentary on Senator Jacinta Price’s claims about Indian immigration. To vote, one needs to be an Australian citizen. Leaving aside limited exceptions, in order to qualify for citizenship an immigrant must have held a permanent resident visa for at least four years. Thus, the vast majority of Indian immigrants who voted in the last two Labor-electing elections were brought into the country by successive coalition governments over the previous 10 years.Dennis Dodd, Shepparton

Wafer thin ideasJacinta Price knows little of policies and ideas to support our nation to flourish together. She knows politics, strategy, and PR talking points. This is an approach that comprises wafer-thin imagination and intelligent thought for our future. The answer is for the LNP to develop policies that nurture our country and are liked and supported by its population. Don’t blame Labor or immigrants for the paucity of her ideas.Gilly McInnes, Monbulk

Lacking insight and concernJacinta Price is correct in once saying that since British settlement many Indigenous people have running water and readily available food. The problem is that because of her simplistic method of delivery, she appears to lack insight and concern for the many who are still living in hell because of British settlement.Julie Conquest, Brighton

Nothing really changesFor a party hoping to one day be elected, the Liberals keep shooting themselves in the foot. Having turned my back on the Liberals in 1972, never to return, it clearly seems that little has really changed.Oriana Collins, Hawthorn
