In this episode of Morning Edition, we are joined by Political Analyst, Dr. Maukesh Basdeo as regional tensions escalate. US President Donald Trump has confirmed a second deadly strike on a Venezuelan vessel, claiming 3 lives.

While Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro is accusing Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar of effectively declaring war with her recent statements in support of these airstrikes.

September is Adoption and Foster Care Month and on the line with us now is Alaina Boochoon, General Manager Child and Family Reintegration Services at the Children’s Authority to tell us more.

Welcome back, its time for our weekly tips and advice with TTPS Media Ambassador Sgt. Ancil Forde.

Alright everyone so we’re putting the Women’s cricketers on the front burner today as the WCPL is winding down. This afternoon, the final game of the league phase is being played – unfortunately, today’s game between the Barbados Royals Women and the Trinbago Knight Riders Women, is just a formality with the Royals and Guyana Amazon Warriors Women already advancing to Wednesday afternoon’s final.

There were 2 WCPL games over the weekend.

On Saturday afternoon, Jess Jonassen’s 51 and DeAndra Dottin’s 31 got the TKR Women to 123 for 7 as Warriors pacer, Molly Penfold claimed 4 wickets for 17 runs.

The Amazon Warriors ladies then chased down their target with 7 balls to spare with Stafanie Taylor scoring 39 and Amy Hunter contributing 27.

Here’s Vinod Narwani with the action.

We do have a special guest for you today but just before we join her, a reminder that today at 3pm the TKR Women take on the Barbados Royals Women.

And tomorrow is the grand final of the WCPL between the Guyana Amazon Warriors and Barbados Royals Womens’ teams – the final will bowl off at 2pm and of course you can catch the action here on TV6.

On the line with us now is Shakera Selman – member of the GAW coaching staff and WCPL commentator to tell us all about this years women’s CPL season so far.

Lets return now to our conversation with Shakera Selman -Member of the GAW coaching staff and WCPL commentator.

Alright everyone so it’s serious business now in the men’s tournament as well you know – it’s playoff time! So let’s take a look at the final standings from the league phase of the tournament.

The St Lucia Kings, Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in that order, all with 12 points, but the Kings topped the table thanks to their net run rate being the best of the three teams while the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons finished 4th with 11 points to secure the final playoff spot.

Unfortunately for the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, who finished 5th with 8 points and the Barbados Royals, who finished last with 5 points, they are going to have to wait until next year to make amends for their substandard showings this season.

So what does it all mean? Well, tonight the Warriors will take on the Kings with the winner going straight to Sunday’s final while the Knight Riders will take on the Falcons in a win or go home match-up on Wednesday night.

Of course the loser of tonight’s Kings-Warriors game will take on the winner of the TKR-Falcons game on Friday night for the other spot in the final.

That’s it for today. Have a good day everyone.
