Borderlands 4 Release Date on Nintendo Switch 2—All Editions & Content, Explained

The Nintendo Switch 2 is the company’s de facto console for new releases. With Borderlands 4 being one of 2025’s biggest AAA releases, it’s a huge coup for the game to come to Switch 2, so let’s check the release date.

Borderlands being on a Nintendo console is nothing new. The Borderlands Legendary Collection can be found on Switch, although new releases typically don’t come out right away. It’s the same case for Borderlands 4, but the fact that the huge game can run on Switch 2 is impressive by itself.

The PlayStation, Xbox, and PC ports are out, and a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 isn’t far away.

When is Borderlands 4 Coming Out on Nintendo Switch 2?

October 3 is when you Borderlands 4 hopefuls can finally buy your copy of the sequel on Nintendo Switch 2.

This means the gap between PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch 2 is only about three weeks! That’s a pretty respectable margin, and it means Switch 2 owners don’t have to miss out by much. If you’re worried about the Switch 2 missing out on content due to any potential limitations, then fear not.

The official 2K FAQ for Borderlands 4 says: “Switch 2 players will have the same exciting Borderlands 4 experience as other platforms, minus the split-screen option, and yes, it will have full crossplay with Epic, Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox X|S!”

So, barring split-screen, it’s practically the same game. If you plan on buying a Switch 2 copy, it would also be wise to secure your Gilded Glory pre-order bonuses to redeem at launch.

Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 is receiving all the same editions as other platforms: Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and the Super Deluxe Edition upgrade.

4 Vault Cards with unique challenges and rewards

Firehawk’s Fury Weapon Skin

New gear and weapons

New Vault Hunter cosmetics

However, if your pockets are loaded with Eridium, the Super Deluxe Edition might be for you. As well as the Bounty Pack Bundle we’ve outlined above, it comes with two additional packs:

Ornate Order Pack

4 Vault Hunter Skins

4 Vault Hunter Heads

4 Vault Hunter Bodies

Vault Hunter Pack
