“For Greater Horizons” echoes aloud the motto for Henry’s College Kitovu (SHACK).
SHACK remains one of the enviable great learning institutions on the land.
Since inception in 1922 after being founded by the White Fathers’ missionaries, SHACK has maintained the status quo, producing the crème de-la-crème of the country’s elite and extra-ordinary individuals.
For the third year now running, SHACK old students will have the enticing SHACK League to operate from 28th September 2025 until the grand finale on 28th June 2026.
The official launch for the third season was conducted at Jevine Hotel in Rubaga, besides the tranquil Kabaka’s lake as the cool breeze blew.
“We are back with the third season of the SHACK League and we shall still ride on the theme; ‘Old Friends, New Memories’. The SHACK League combines sports for joy and fitness as well as entertainment. Everyone is invited to come and have fun. We engage the community through sports and entertainment” Victor Kiyimba, the president of the SHACK League remarked in his official address.
Head of Technical Joseph Luate confirmed that twenty (20) teams are expected and will play in a league format (one league) from match day one until match day eight in June 2026.
“The SHACK League is here once again. We shall play 7-aside as usual with any lady player accepted to be part. We shall have eight match days with every team playing each other from September 2025 until June 2026” Luate stated.
Some of the representatives for the different teams present expressed sheer readiness ahead of the grueling season whose first match day has been confirmed for Sunday, 28th September 2025 at Legends Grounds in Naguru.
Denis Bukulu, team manager for the Apetta Kings assures fireworks prior to the new season.
“We are seriously in residential training. We do not want to leave any stone unturned come to the first match day and the rest of the games. The other teams should stand rest assured.” Bukulu warned.
Defending champions Centennials were ably represented by the head coach Roderick Kimuli.
Kimuli confirmed that they are up for the task in thy midst with the key objective of a successful title defence.
“The Centennials as usual we are very ready and organized for the new season of The SHACK League. We have already had a couple of pre-season training with warm up duels. What better preparations do we deserve than that” Kimuli boldly asserted.
Francis Kibuli, representing one of the older cohorts promised a great show despite the big difference in the age with the younger old students.
“The SHACK League is a wonderful platform of linking the different generations of old students at SHACK. We are ready to compete and shall shock our younger brothers like we did last season” Kibuule commented.
The SHACK League publicist Silas Muwonge called upon the old students and well-wishers of St Henry’s College Kitovu (SHACK) to turn up in big numbers on every match day to support the league.
“I urge all the old students of St Henry’s College Kitovu as well as well-wishers to come and support the league. This is the a forum to smile and rekindle the old memories. It is more than about the football, but rather a networking platform” Muwonge called.
A number of partners have joined hands to make this league a success as MTN Momo, Mental Health Focus, Jevine Hotel Rubaga, Prudential, Oak professions, Stone Castle Inn, Soccanett, Gary Holmes Hospital Maganjo, CBS Radio, BBS Telefaina and other media companies; among others.
Some of the teams expected include Centennials, Kata Bavarians, Basaja Bakame, Olympians (2014-2019), Green Cave, Kaffetalians, Mbirisho, Uptown Pirates, Apetta Kings, Mbaawo, Ma Peace, Mbookya Warriors, Ba Cereals, Kasswa Titans and others.
Over the years, St Henry’s College Kitovu (SHACK) has produced affluent sportsmen with some of the famous footballers including Godfrey Mugisha, Emmanuel Arnold Okwi to the current crop of players; Marvin Kavuma, John Paul Ddembe, Godfrey Ssekibengo, among others.
