ICC’s CEO Sanjog Gupta took on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and embarrassed them at the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. The ICC’s official did not agree to the PCB’s demand for Andy Pycroft’s removal and he continues to be part of the continental tournament. Pycroft was the match referee during Pakistan’s game against the UAE. There was a big drama before the game as PCB threatened to boycott it, demanding Pycroft’s removal. However, the ICC embarrassed the PCB and decided against it. PCB claimed that Pycroft apologised to the team management and the captain. Their actions have landed them in trouble and ICC has written to them regarding their misconduct and repeated violations. As the fans wait for PCB’s reply, here we meet Sanjog Gupta, who took on PCB and embarrassed them – Sanjog Gupta started his career as a journalist. He holds an Economics Honours degree from Delhi University’s SRCC College. He worked at different news channels before joining Star India in 2010. He handled different portfolios during his time with Star. In 2020, he became the Head of Sports at Disney and Star India. In 2024, Star merged with Viacom18. Sanjog was appointed the CEO of Sports & Live Experiences of DisneyStar after the merger. He also played a key role in the growth and innovation of IPL and ICC events. He is also credited with establishing and popularising the Indian Super League and the Pro Kabaddi League. In July 2025, Sanjog created history by becoming the first-ever Indian to become the ICC’s CEO. The top position drew more than 2,500 applications from candidates from over 25 countries. The process started in March. “I look forward to contributing to the next phase of cricket’s evolution, expanding its global footprint, enhancing the fan experience, and working closely with ICC Member Boards to build on our strong foundations,” he said at the time of his appointment.
