Scottie Scheffler's 2025 PGA earnings dwarfs Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry's combined tally

2025 will always be remembered as the year that Rory McIlroy broke his major duck, winning The Masters at Augusta to become grand-slam champion.

However, the year belongs to Scottie Scheffler.

The American has been back to his very best this year, and has turned in one of the most dominant seasons in history.

His victory at the Procore Championship last weekend marked his sixth victory on the PGA Tour this season, with two of those wins coming in the majors at the PGA Championship and at The Open in July.

With so much success on the course, it’s no surprise to learn that Scheffler has earned an extraordinary amount of money on the PGA Tour this season.

How much? $27,659,550 to be exact.

That staggering amount is a little under $2million less than the record set in 2024 by, you guessed it, Scottie Scheffler.

The Texan’s dominance is something to behold and truly is a sight that hasn’t been seen since Tiger Woods was in his pomp.

What makes Scheffler’s financial achievements even more impressive is when you compare them to McIlroy.

Northern Irishman McIlroy has had a brilliant 2025, winning The Masters and three other big championships, the third of which coming at the Irish Open in dramatic fashion a week ago.

The grand-slam champion has taken home an eye-watering $16,992,418 for his PGA Tour performances this season, almost $10million less than the incredible Scheffler.

Should you add Shane Lowry’s total winnings of $7,082,794, World number one Scheffler tops Lowry and McIlroy’s combined figure ($24,075,212).

So that begs the question, how many more Irish golfers need to be added to that tally before Scheffler is finally toppled?

Waterford’s Seamus Power has had a so-so season by his own high standards, recording one top-10 finish for the year, but even so, he still took home $933,685, taking our Irish tally to $25,008,897, still more than $2.5million shy of Scheffler.

On to the PGA Champions Tour we go where this year Ireland’s Padraig Harrington took home victory in the Senior Open and US Open, wins which helped him take his season tally to $1,833,486.

That brings the Irish figure up to $26,842,383. Throw in Darren Clarke’s $1,219,223, and the Irish tally finally outnumbers the four-time major winner.

In plain English, Scottie Scheffler has earned $27,659,550 this year, while the combined Irish PGA Tour and Champions Tour figure comes to $28,061,606.

An absolutely incredible amount of money, and a figure that shows how dominant Scheffler has been all season.

His next event is the Ryder Cup, where there is no money on the line. Only pride, and after a chastening experience in 2023, Europe should watch out as Scheffler looks to bend the match to his will.
