ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI – A former Allegan High School student enrolled in the Allegan Online program was arrested after police investigated a threat.
School officials were alerted by Allegan law enforcement about the potential threat on Friday morning, according to a letter from Superintendent James Antoine posted on the district’s website.
The arrest was made before the beginning of the school day, according to the letter.
Federal authorities became aware of the situation after learning of concerning online conversations that involved the student, according to the letter.
“We are deeply grateful to the Allegan City Police Department and their partners for their swift response and for ensuring the safety of our students and staff,” Antoine wrote.
There was no danger to students or any of the district’s schools, Antoine wrote.
“The safety and well-being of our students remains our highest priority,” Antoine wrote. “We will continue to partner closely with law enforcement and remain vigilant in maintaining a safe learning environment.”
