DUSU Election 2025: RSS Student Wing ABVP Wins President, Secretary Posts; NSUI Secures VP Post

The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections 2025 results are out. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) presidential candidate, Aryan Maan has won the race against National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) candidate Joslyn Nandita Choudhary. He defeated Choudhary by more than 16,000 votes.

Kunal Chaudhary of ABVP grabbed the Secretary post defeating NSUI’s Kabir and Deepika Jha, also from ABVP grabbed the Joint Secretary post beating NSUI Lavkush Bhadana by more than 3000 votes.
While for the post of Vice President of the DUSU council, NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla defeated ABVP’s Govind Tanwar by a huge margin.

Joint Secretary – Deepika Jha: 21,825 votes
NSUI Candidates:
President – Joslyn Nandita Choudhary: 12,645 votes
Vice President – Rahul Jhansla: 29,339 votes
Secretary – Kabir: 16,117 votes
Joint Secretary – Lavkush Bhadana: 17,380 votes
AISA-SFI Candidates:
President – Anjali: 5,385 votes
Vice President – Sohan: 4,163 votes
Secretary – Abhinandana: 228 votes
Joint Secretary – Abhishek: 8,425 votes
Total Votes Polled:
President: 59,882
Vice President: 59,869
Secretary: 59,863
Joint Secretary: 69,919
Nine candidates competed for the president’s post, including Aryan Maan from ABVP, Josleen Nandita Choudhary from NSUI, and Anjali from the SFI-AISA alliance. Other candidates were Anuj Kumar, Divyanshu Singh Yadav, Rahul Kumar, Umanshi Lamba, Yogesh Meena, and Abhishek Kumar.
The elections took place on Thursday, with results announced today, September 19. Vote counting began at 8 am at the Multipurpose Hall in the University Sports Stadium, North Campus. This year, the NSUI fielded a woman candidate for the president’s post for the first time in 17 years. Out of 21 candidates, 7 are women, fewer than last year’s 9.
In last year’s elections, Congress-backed NSUI made a comeback after seven years by winning the president and joint secretary positions, while RSS-backed ABVP secured the vice-president and secretary posts. NSUI’s Rounak Khatri won the president’s seat, defeating ABVP’s Rishabh Chaudhary by over 1,300 votes. In 2023, ABVP’s Tushar Dedha won the president’s seat.
