You don’t have to travel across the country to go to a famous hot air balloon festival. Saturday might be your chance to ride one almost in your backyard.
The City of Quincy’s 400th anniversary celebration continues with a free hot air balloon and laser light show from 4 to 10 p.m. at Adams and Pageant fields, according to a press release from the city.
Pageant Field will be the home of tethered hot air balloon rides and Adams Field is set to see a stationary hot air balloon display, the city said.
The first 500 people will be able to take flight 50 feet in the air in a free tethered hot air balloon, depending on weather, the city said.
Riders under age 18 must have an adult with them in order to ride, according to the release.

From 4 to 7 p.m., Adams Field will also host family-friendly entertainment and Pageant Field will have live performances, according to the release.
Musical guests include Little Groove, HoneyTrain, and the Flagship Drumline, the city said.
Capping it all off is an hourlong laser light show starting at 9 p.m.
“Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs to enjoy the music and light show,” the release stated.
Parking is limited and the city encourages show goers to take public transportation, use a ride share, or to park in designated areas within walking distance of the fields.
The city asked attendees to “please respect nearby neighborhoods” and not park on nearby residential streets.
