KUCHING, Sept 18: Former Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) president Bobby William has announced his withdrawal from contesting the party presidency at the upcoming Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) scheduled tomorrow (Sept 18) at Paramount Hotel in Sibu.
In a press statement yesterday (Sept 17), Bobby described his 11th-hour withdrawal as a difficult decision, while extending his gratitude to party members and supporters who had nominated him and placed their trust in his struggle to advance the Dayak community.
“At this juncture, I must humbly step aside in order to focus on my business and studies. This is an important stage of self-improvement and preparation for greater responsibilities in the future.
“Nevertheless, I will continue to support the party in every way I can. My political commitment to PBDS and to the Dayak cause remains steadfast and unwavering,” he said.
Bobby stressed that the party’s TDC should not be seen as a contest between winners and losers but as part of a democratic process to strengthen PBDS with stronger leadership and fresh ideas.
“What matters most is unity. For the sake of the Dayak community, PBDS must move forward and rise to be on par with the major political parties in Sarawak and Malaysia. Dwelling on the past will not bring progress; only unity and determination will,” he asserted.
He expressed hope that the new leader chosen will continue to be the true voice of the Bangsa Dayak, defending the community’s rights with courage and wisdom.
Bobby also conveyed his best wishes to all contestants vying for positions in the TDC, urging members to remain united, place the party above self, and build PBDS into a stronger and more respected political force for the future. — DayakDaily
