Defending champions Team India have already booked their berth in the Super 4 stages of the Asia Cup 2025 but they will look to move up with an all-win record from Group A like Sri Lanka have done from Group B. The final hurdle in their path are minnows Oman as the two sides face off for the first time in their history in any format of the game in match No. 11 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
It will be the ideal warm-up match for Team India before they face off against arch-rivals Pakistan for the second time in this tournament but this time in the Super 4 stages on Sunday. Suryakumar Yadav’s side are likely to rest pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah for this inconsequential tie and either Arshdeep Singh or Harshit Rana may get a look-in into the playing 11.
It will be interesting to see if either Rinku Singh or Jitesh Sharma can be adjusted into the side as well. Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson has been pushed down the order with Shubman Gill returning to the top of the order as vice-captain of the team and the Rajasthan Royals captain is yet to bat in this tournament.
The rest of the bowling department looks on song with Kuldeep Yadav leading the way with 7 wickets in just 2 matches while Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel have made life difficult for the batters as well. Oman on the other hand are going through a period of internal turmoil which is apparent in the brand of cricket played by them in the tournament so far.
