King Charles is truly a reigning expert on royal duties and his wife’s go-to heels, too.
During a meeting with the founder of British footwear brand Sole Bliss, the monarch, 76, charmed entrepreneur Lisa Kay by showing just how well he knows his queen — not just in matters of state, but in style as well.
“The King was relaxed and personable,” Kay, who has been supplying shoes to Queen Camilla since 2018, told People on Friday, September 19, revealing Charles impressed her with his knowledge about what type of heel that Camilla, 78, favors.
“He genuinely seemed interested in our business and knew so much about the Queen’s preferences — it felt like chatting with any husband who pays attention to what his wife likes to wear,” Kay added.
King Charles told her that Camilla “likes a heel that’s not too narrow,” to which she replied, “Yes, a block heel.” The King said that was spot-on, enthusiastically adding, “Yes, a block heel!”
Camilla is said to adore the Ingrid, which has an almond-shaped toe and two-inch block heel.
The Queen currently owns 11 pairs of Sole Bliss shoes, all of which have podiatrist-approved comfort technology, and even advised Kate Middleton to try out a pair — leading the Princess of Wales, 43, to get their platform sneakers.
Kay admitted that during the meeting, “I was absolutely tempted to offer the King a pair of our men’s shoes right there and then! But I thought that might be pushing royal protocol a bit too far.”
The Sole Bliss founder is one of 197 recipients of the King’s Award for Enterprise, an honor given to those making a mark with their business ventures.
“Our men’s shoes were a huge success when we first launched them, and we’re very excited to see where this expansion goes,” she added, noting her brand — which was founded in 2017 — will soon be offering more formal shoes.
Camilla recently showed off her sense of style at the state banquet on Wednesday, September 17, wearing a royal blue dress by Fiona Clare paired with a sapphire and diamond tiara.
Charles, for his part, wore a formal suit with a royal blue sash plus his regalia including several honors related to his royal and military service.
