Delhi University Students’ Union Election Result 2025 Live Updates: The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections were held on Thursday, and the results will be declared today, September 19. Counting of votes began at 8 am in the Multipurpose Hall at the University Sports Stadium, North Campus. A key highlight this year is that, after 17 years, NSUI has fielded a woman candidate for the post of president.
Out of the 21 candidates in the fray, only 7 are women, fewer than last year’s 9. However, the presence of three women candidates for the president’s post has made the contest more interesting.
Students from 52 DU colleges, departments, and institutions cast their votes on Thursday. The election generated a lot of enthusiasm among students, and discussions about it have been trending on social media. Security and arrangements across the campus have also been given special attention.
For the president’s post, nine candidates are competing. They include Aryan Maan from ABVP, Josleen Nandita Choudhary from NSUI and Anjali from the SFI-AISA alliance. Other candidates in the race are Anuj Kumar, Divyanshu Singh Yadav, Rahul Kumar, Umanshi Lamba, Yogesh Meena and Abhishek Kumar.
In last year’s elections, Congress-backed NSUI made a comeback after seven years by winning the president and joint secretary positions. The RSS-backed ABVP secured the vice-president and secretary posts. NSUI’s Rounak Khatri won the president’s seat, defeating ABVP’s Rishabh Chaudhary by over 1,300 votes. This was NSUI’s first win in the president’s post since 2017, when Rocky Tuseed was elected.
